Training and Development

Successful integration into society and all its demands for children can only be achieved with the support of carers who possess the appropriate skills, knowledge and attitude.

With this in mind Keilhill Children Services make considerable annual investments in the training and professional development of the entire team.

We have a high adults to children ratio.

Training courses cover a wide range of relevant subjects and are always facilitated by expert trainers.

Scottish Social Services Council  state that all carers are required to attain SVQ 3 Health and Social Care or associated care award plus a Higher National Certificate in Social Care or associated care certificate.

All carers are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.

Induction Program

New team members are supported through the week long induction program by the senior team members and it is a major focus of the supervision process during the first 12 months of employment. Induction week involves demonstrating an understanding of residential care, the objectives and function of the home, relationships with children and other external parties, responding to crises, sanctions and control and a basic knowledge of our therapeutic ideal.

The program affords new team members the time to become properly orientated with the requirements of the home and legislation.
