Aim

We aim to achieve a working consensus among the adults, where goals are shared and everyone  is equally motivated. All adults should believe that extensive sharing and equality of contribution are part of the overall value base, aim and commitment to the project.

If we can successfully interpret what children are telling us and help something from their unconscious to be become conscious by naming it at the moment it is starting to break through, we can start the healing process.

We can achieve this through secure relationships and thorough understanding of each individual child.

Adults at Keilhill Cottage are trained to understand that the pace of a child's response to a stressful situation has a characteristic rhythm. With proper understanding interactions between adult and child can be influenced by the adult giving positive responses. This is a mode of supportive control that we strongly advocate.

We can also teach children how to 'reframe' what they percieve as negative situations, thus allowing potential confrontations to become constructive and thereby teaching children how to negotiate and listen.

Our aim is to create meaningful and lasting relationships, that the children can carry forward as they grow and move on.
